Planning Board's Recent Plans for Constructive Development in Montgomery

Priyanshu Dasgupta | January 31, 2022

The Montgomery Planning Board had pivotal plans regarding their meeting on the 24th of January. The successful outcome to these potential opportunities would introduce more such business possibilities around the township hence helping Montgomery develop from an economic standpoint.

They would potentially get to discuss and come to solutions concerning a resolution put forth by the Princeton Promenade, LLC. They also wished to review a new application for a new building containing a retail store by the name of “Kasia Market”. This application also dealt with the land owners, Montgomery Place, LLC. These discussions and plans would prove to be crucial for further development of the township of Montgomery.

On rendezvous, Lori Savron, the appointed Planning Director, kicked off with the planned agenda without any ado. The first topic of discussion happened to be the resolution requested by Princeton Promenade, LLC. They - the constructors - requested an approval for the new expansion of a parking lot. This parking lot currently has a capacity of housing up to 262 cars, and to this, Princeton Promenade looks forward to adding an additional 198 spots.

This would certainly come at quite an expensive price. Additionally, the constructors are currently also facing significant opposition when coming up with a feasible design due to their noncompliance with the government’s rules to incorporate certified environmental and safety standards (namely the LEED silver standards).

Such reasons led the Mayor, Devra Keenan, to decide that such problematic proposals should not be blindly accepted and approved. “It would be utterly foolish to approve this right now. It’s almost like telling them they can do whatever they intend to do.”, she exclaimed, hence waitlisting the resolution of the design proposal sent by Princeton Promenade, LLC. Therefore, for the approval of the plan they put forth to be approved, the constructors need to review the design along with the government’s engineers and director.

After reaching a temporary cessation with the recently discussed topic, the board immediately moved onto the next topic at hand. The subsequent application was going to be presented by Montgomery Place, LLC. and Kasia Market. Kasia Market is an Asian Gourmet Store which will be hopefully coming to a potentially newly constructed building next to the already constructed CVS.

Kasia, the owner of Kasia Market anticipates the store’s opening to take place by October 2022. He also promised around 40 - 55 employees upon the opening of the store.

However, before the business starts, the 39,600-square-foot building housing it must be constructed. In the meeting, any doubts and nuances such as the roof height, regarding the construction of the building were clarified. Additionally, Montgomery Place, LLC. is also willing to plant four electric vehicle charging stations with the capability of charging upto eight cars at a time.

Overall, this meeting summarizes the recent events in our small township and how even such places need to go through moderated and carefully planned procedures to properly develop into something much greater over time.
